Village Debuts Snow Angels Program

Snow shoveling program to pair volunteers with those in need of assistance

Orland Park, IL (February 16, 2021) – The Village of Orland Park’s new volunteer snow shoveling program was unanimously approved at the February 15, 2021 meeting of the Village Board. The program, dubbed Snow Angels, was formed to provide assistance to residents who need assistance with snow removal.

“We’ve had record-breaking cold and snowfall over a short period of time this winter that has resulted in many requiring assistance with snow removal,” said Mayor Keith Pekau. “This program is designed to pair volunteers with those in need to alleviate the problem locally and is free of any cost.”

Those seeking help and individuals who would like to volunteer are encouraged to sign up for the Village of Orland Park’s Snow Angels Shoveling program. Volunteers are needed for the entire winter snow season.

Orland Park seniors or individuals with disabilities will be provided with a complete list of available volunteers in their area upon request. The resident is then responsible for contacting volunteers from the list and for scheduling services directly with the volunteer. The volunteer is responsible for completing the task or notifying the resident if they are unable to complete the work.

“The Snow Angels Shoveling program is new this year and will only be successful with the cooperation of local volunteers who are willing to offer their time and assistance,” said Pekau.
