The Village continues to receive exceptional bond ratings from each of its rating agencies. During its most recent bond issuance, the village received an AA+ rating from Standard & Poor's for it's 2023 general obligation (GO) bonds. At the same time, the Village was affirmed Standard & Poor's AA+ long-term rating for it's existing bonds.

The Village of Orland Park is the recipient of the Voice of the People Award in the category of Excellence in Education, Arts, and Culture. The Voice of the People Awards (VOP) are the only awards given in local government based on the opinion of community residents. They are presented jointly by the National Research Center (NRC) at Polco and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). Award-winning communities embody the spirit of The National Community Survey™ (The NCS™) and display commitment to best practices in moving their communities forward. Selections are based on The National Community Survey (The NCS), a resident feedback assessment that focuses on the foundations that create a high quality of life. As a winner, the Village of Orland Park has demonstrated significant improvements and excellence on The National Community Survey. The award was presented at the ICMA Conference on Monday, September 19, 2022.

Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has given an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting to The Village of Orland Park for its Popular Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ended December 31st, 2020. The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports.

In order to receive an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting, a government unit must publish a Popular Annual Financial Report, whose contents conform to program standards of creativity, presentation, understandability, and reader appeal.

An Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting is valid for a period of one year only. We believe our current report continues to conform to the Popular Annual Financial Reporting requirements, and we are submitting it to GFOA to determine its eligibility for another Award.

On June 10 2022, in its 13^th annual Digital Government Awards, cloud engagement platform, Granicus, had announced its winners in various categories, each contributing towards the improvement and efficiency of engagement between people and government. With the debut of its website in August of 2021, the Village of Orland Park proved to exceed the online needs of its citizens and take home the title of “Website of the year”.

The Village of Orland Park is one of only 24 governments in Illinois, and 231 governments in the United States and Canada, to achieve the Government Finance Officers Association’s Triple Crown of Financial Reporting Awards. Since fiscal year 2006, the Finance Department has been awarded the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award. To qualify for this award, the Village’s budget document is judged to be outstanding as a financial policy document, operations guide and communications device.

The Village of Orland Park received a "5-Star" Aquatic Safety Award in recognition of the Centennial Park Aquatic Center’s (CPAC) efforts as above the industry standard, reflecting a proactive approach to aquatic risk prevention. CPAC also earned a five-star safety rating, the highest rating possible, following an unannounced risk management audit by an international water safety organization. CPAC has received 5-star scores on 43 of the last 47 audits over the last 17 years.

The American Public Works Association (APWA) Awards program recognizes outstanding individuals, groups and chapters representing the best in public works amongst others. When a project has won a "Public Works Project of the Year" award, the agency, contractor and consultant will receive a complimentary award plaque and are recognized at the PWX Awards Recognition and announced in an issue of the online APWA Reporter.

In 2020, Orland Park won this award for the completion of the 147th Street and Ravinia Roundabout and Village Hall Complex Improvements.  The Village was awarded again in 2022 for the outstanding work of completing the 151st Street from Ravinia Avenue to West Avenue project.  In 2023, the Village intends to apply for the APWA award for the John Humphrey Complex project.

For the past 34 years, Orland Park has been recognized as a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation. Not only that, but the Village of Orland Park has received the growth award for 12 years. Being a part of Tree City USA means that Orland Park is committed to providing cleaner air and cooler temperatures to its residents!

Orland Park was named the Safest City in Illinois for 2021 by Safety.com, a leading home security and safety advocacy website. This is the first time in the Village’s history to receive this distinction. Analysts from Safety.com assessed data provided by the FBI Crime Report, Gun Violence Archive, U.S. Census Bureau, Insurance Journal and America Health Rankings to create its list of safest cities in Illinois.

In 2019, 24/7 Wall Street named Orland Park the #1 American City for Home Ownership, citing that nearly 90% of occupied homes in Orland Park were owned by their occupants.
