Orland Park Police Department Releases Thanksgiving Enforcement Numbers

Post Date:11/29/2023 2:39 PM

The Orland Park Police Department’s Thanksgiving traffic safety campaign was conducted Nov. 17-27, reminding motorists to buckle up and drive sober. The “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” mobilization was a collaborative effort conducted by Orland Park Police Officers and other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities during the holiday season.

As a result of the campaign, the Orland Park Police department administered the following:

  • 6 seat belt citations
  • 10 uninsured motorist citations
  • 52 speeding citations
  • 10 tickets for cell phone use while driving

“We issue tickets as a reminder to drivers and passengers that seat belt use isn’t a suggestion, it’s the law,” said Sergeant Bill Sanchez. “This year’s campaign was successful in grabbing people’s attention with highly visible enforcement methods. As always, our goal is a safe community with safe drivers.”

The Thanksgiving enforcement effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
