Orland Park Police Department Releases Distracted Driving Enforcement Numbers
Orland Park, IL (May 3, 2024) – The Orland Park Police Department announced it issued 182 citations for hands-free law violations and 73 other citations during April’s Distracted Driving Awareness Month enforcement campaign.
During the campaign, Orland Park Police Officers issued:
182 cellphone tickets/distracted driving
16 seatbelt citations
57 other citations
6 arrests
“Driver distraction is a persistent issue in Orland Park that often has life-altering consequences,” said Orland Park Police Chief Eric Rossi. “Issuing a citation is a proven way to get motorists to pay attention or pay the price. Distracted Driving Awareness Month may be over, but we will continue our efforts to stop motorists from engaging in this deadly behavior.”
The Illinois distracted driving campaign was funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide “Put the Phone Away or Pay” campaign.
