Village of Orland Park Warns Against Door-to-Door Roofing Contractor Scams

Orland Park, IL (May 8, 2024) - Following yesterday’s hailstorm, a number of roofing companies are going door-to-door in the Village of Orland Park. Using an unregistered vendor could leave you susceptible to scams, fraud and possibly more damage to your house.

"Property owners need to be vigilant and protect themselves and their property by obtaining current information on roofing contractors," Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau said. "Verifying roofing registration is an important and easy step." 

The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) provides a database where residents can verify that a roofing contractor is licensed by the State of Illinois. Once a roofing contractor license number is acquired, it can be verified by visiting idfpr.illinois.gov. Additionally, door-to-door roofing solicitors must be licensed by the Orland Park Police Department.  A licensed solicitor must make available their permit upon request. Solicitors without an Orland Park permit are being ticketed by the Police Department.
