*Due to the severe weather in May 2024, the Village of Orland Park has received a high volume of roof replacement permit applications. Patience regarding your permit status is greatly appreciated. Complete permit applications must include all seven items listed below; otherwise, there will be an additional delay obtaining your permit.*

Application Requirements

A permit is required for all new and reroofs, with or without a tear off.

The following is needed to apply for permit:

• Completed Roof Permit Application Form
• Contractor's information, if one is being used
• Total cost of work
• Signed Contract by homeowner
• Window/Door Handout (if installing/replacing skylight)
• Copy of valid Driver's License of Applicant
• Permit fee of $75 for single family residential; multi-family and commercial starts at $90

• Roof Permit applications must be filled out in their entirety to match the work that is being done as indicated on the contract.  Roof permit application must be signed by the applicant.  Illinois State Roofing Law must be followed.
• Contracts and Roof Permit applications are subject to denial if all rules are not followed.  Additional submittals (of all items of a complete application) will be required.
• Siding and windows are separate permits and cannot be included on a roof permit.  See “Siding / Gutters / Fascia” click here and “Windows and Doors” click here for details.
• A signed copy of the roofing contract between the homeowner and the contractor, along with a copy of the applicant’s valid driver’s license, must accompany all Roof Permit Applications.
• If skylights are included (installed or replaced), a copy of the Exterior Window and Door Replacement-Rules and Regulations form must be included with the Roof Permit Application, driver’s license, and signed contract.
• Roofing contractors must be registered with the Village of Orland Park and their contractor’s registration fee for 2024 must be paid.
• If applicants do not include all of the required documents or if the Roof Permit Application is not filled out completely, it will be denied and the applicant will have to reapply.
• All permits will be reviewed in the order in which we receive them in our system.
• Work cannot begin until permits are approved and issued.
• Work without permit penalty fees will apply if work is performed prior to receiving the permit.
• The submittal into the portal is not the permit application.  The permit application form is one element of the application that is submitted through the portal.
• An expedited permit review process is not available.
