Drug Investigation Leads to Multiple Felony Charges

Orland Park, Il – April 12, 2024 – In the fall of 2023, the Orland Park Police Department received information that there was a subject on snapchat selling cannabis, psilocybin mushrooms and vape pens to Sandburg students. The Orland Park Police Tactical Response Unit opened up an investigation and were able to identify the subject as 21-year-old Jeffery Meyer of Chicago Heights. Over the next several months, Officers learned that Meyer was delivering cannabis, mushrooms and vape pens to teenagers throughout the southwest suburbs, some as young as 13 years old. Meyer was also identified as possessing a Glock with a switch and a stabilizing brace, enabling it to be fired as an automatic rifle. Over the past several weeks, Orland Park Police conducted undercover operations where Myer delivered cannabis and mushrooms to an undercover police officer.

On April 12th, Orland Park Police along with the South Suburban Emergency Response Team conducted a search warrant on Meyer’s residence. The search recovered over 300 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, over 23 pounds of cannabis and THC products and 3 firearms, including a Glock with a switch. Orland Park Police also recovered over $79,000 in cash proceeds from the sale of drugs.

Based on the weight of the drugs, the Cook County States Attorney Office approved one charge of Possession with the Intent to Deliver Cannabis (Class X Felony), one charge of Possession with the Intent to Deliver Psilocybin Mushrooms (Class X Felony), one charge of possession of cannabis (Class 1 Felony), one charge of Possession of Controlled Substance (Class 1 Felony) and one charge of Unlawful Possession of a Machine Gun (Class 2 Felony).
