Kayak and Pedal Boat Rental Hours (weather permitting)
Regular Hours:
(Season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day)
Monday through Friday: 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
Modified Hours:
May 28-31| 4 p.m.–7 p.m.
July 4 | 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
September 2 (Labor Day) | 12 p.m.–5 p.m.
Back to School Hours:
August 14-15, 19-22 & 26-29 | NO RENTALS
August 16, 23 & 30 | 4 p.m.–7 p.m.
August 17-18, 24-25 & August 31-September 1 | 12 p.m.–7 p.m.
*Last boat rental (1) hour before closing. During windy/inclement weather conditions, pedal boat and kayak rentals will be suspended. Boat rental is closed when Centennial Pool is closed.
Rules and Guidelines
BOATER INFORMATION
Rentals are made thru the Centennial Park Aquatic Center cashier's office.
Fees must be paid in advance. Deposit will be returned after any late fees have been applied.
All rentals are on a first come, first served basis.
Renters must be at least 16 years of age and have a valid driver's license or state ID to rent watercraft.
All renters 18 years and up are required to sign a waiver. Those under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian (18 years or older) sign a waiver on their behalf.
Rentals are a minimum of 1 hour. Boats returned later than 10 minutes after the hour will be assessed an additional 30 minute fee. Boats returned more than 30 minutes after the hour will be assessed a full hour rental fee.
All patrons are required to wear a Village of Orland Park life vest at all times while on the lake.
Fishing from pedal boats or kayaks is not permitted.
Docking boats anywhere other than the boat launch is not permitted unless there is an emergency.
Renters are responsible for damage, or loss to the boats and/or equipment.
NO pets are allowed on pedal boats or kayaks.
KAYAK REGULATIONS
Must be 12 years of age or older to operate kayak.
Participants ages 12 to 15 may utilize a kayak when accompanied by a person 16 years of age or older in another kayak.
Participants age 8 to 11 may only utilize a 2-person kayak and must be accompanied by an individual 16 years of age or older.
No one under the age of 8 years may utilize a kayak.
PEDAL BOAT REGULATIONS
Must be 14 years of age or older to operate pedal boat.
Participants under the age of 14 must be accompanied by at least one individual 16 years of age or older.
No one under the age of 5 years is permitted on a pedal boat.
Sitting on laps is not permitted.
BOATING GUIDELINES AND PERSONAL WATER CRAFT
Boats must leave the bay area while fishing.
Swimming and wading is prohibited.
No more than 12 boats are allowed on the lake at one time.
Boats may only be launched and retrieved at the boat launch.
Boats with electric trolling motors allowed.
Gas motors must be propped in the up position.
Maximum length is 16 feet.
No jet skis or inflatable boats.
Must have one Coast Guard approved wearable life jacket for each person on board.
All boats 16 feet in length must contain at least one Type IV throwable personal flotation device in addition to above.
Each boat must have at least one oar or paddle.
