Arts & Crafts with Connie

One day workshops with Ms. Connie for kids 6 years to 13 years. 

Landscape & Florals Painting *

Learn how to use broken colors to illustrate depth and movement. Create stunning contrast between warm and cool colors. Acrylic and oil methods will be demonstrated step by step. We invite adult artists of any age and skill level from our community. All supplies are included. 
* Not offered in the summer. 

Private Drawing & Painting Lessons

Refine your drawing/painting art skills through private lessons with Gergana Horozova from Magenta Moon Art School of Orland Park. These lessons are available for those age 8 to 12. Each 90-minute lesson is perfectly tailored to your age, skill level, background and area of artistic interest to allow you to improve and re-sharpen your skills and build a portfolio with guidance and feedback from the instructor. NOTE: You must register by the Monday prior to the Friday Lesson. Parent/Adult must stay in the room during the lesson. 

Smart Start Art*

Strap on your backpack as you take a virtual trip around the world and encounter international art. Sketch and draw, shade and color, cut, glue, fold and create!
* Not offered in the summer. 

Adult Art Surrender

Abstract painting is perfect for emerging to advanced artists. Session for adults 18 and up. Located in the Heritage Sites section of the Summer program guide - page 110

Adult Water Color Painting * 

Join Mary Kodl Truesdale in this six week class learning watercolor techniques. This class is geared for beginning to intermediate students. A supply list is available at registration.

Senior Painting - Water Color

Never painted before? This class is for you! Create a 9 x 12 masterpiece of still life/landscape while learning essentials of selection of paper and brushes. Each session has a new image to paint and all supplies are included.

MUSIC

Southwest Community Concert Band 

The Southwest Community Concert Band is open to musicians ages 16 & over with varied capabilities, no auditions required. New members can join at any time. For more information, visit swcommunityband.com.

Bagpipe Lessons Bagpipes

Join teacher Wayne Hoefler in learning the great art of playing the bagpipes. You will be learning on a practice chanter which can be purchased separately. The recommended chanter is called a polypenco practice chanter and can be purchased at Henderson Pipes, Drums and Uniforms—hendersongroupltd.com. Please have the chanter for the first lesson. No music experience is necessary to join. Come out and have some fun while learning something new. As students progress, they will be offered the opportunity to be integrated into the Doonaree Pipe Band which practices at the Cultural Center on Thursday evenings.

Doonaree Pipe Band

Incorporated on May 25, 1993, the Doonaree Pipe Band is a member of the Midwest Pipe Band Association, competing at Grade V. They are honored to have won Champion Supreme Grade V two times! The Doonaree Pipe Band performs at St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, parades, the Taste of Orland Park and are also available for weddings and funerals. 

 


CHESS

Camps  and classes offered by Chess Scholars for grades Kindergarten to 8th grade.

MAGIC

Students will learn tricks involving cards, ropes, coins and much more. For kids 5 to 12 years. 

 


SPANISH

We offer multiple sessions for ages 3 to 5 years and 6 to 11 years. 

 




KNITTING

Come join us for an afternoon of conversation and sharing the love of our craft. All levels are welcome along with any type of needlework. 

Registration is not necessary. Meet at the Franklin Loebe Center, Room 109 on Tuesdays from
Jun 4-Aug 27 | 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM.
